Q1. Is Bengali language compulsory for WB PCS-J?

Yes. A 100-mark Bengali Composition paper is mandatory in Mains, and working knowledge of Bengali is verified during the Personality Test. Without functional Bengali, qualifying is practically impossible.

Q2. Can a fresh law graduate apply for WB PCS-J 2026?

Yes. Unlike some states, WB PCS-J does not require advocacy practice. A fresh LLB holder aged 23-35 can directly apply, provided other eligibility conditions are met.

Q3. What is the salary of a Civil Judge (JD) in West Bengal?

As per the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC) implementation, the entry pay scale is ₹77,840 with allowances bringing total CTC to roughly ₹1.05-1.2 lakh per month.

Q4. How many attempts are allowed for WB PCS-J?

There is no attempt limit, only an age limit of 35 years (with category relaxations). Candidates may appear as many times as they wish until they exceed the upper age limit.
